Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) took a significant step forward in its pursuit of institutional excellence by holding a meeting of its Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 2:30 PM in Meeting Room 220, Building 2, at the BUBT campus. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Vice Chancellor of BUBT.
The meeting focused on implementing a structured plan for continuous improvement in academic quality, launching accreditation procedures, and fostering a culture of teaching and learning excellence.
Key Agendas and Resolutions:
- Continual Improvement of Quality Assurance and Teaching-Learning (QA/TL): The committee reviewed findings from External Peer Reviews (EPR) and Post Self-Assessment Improvement Plans for six departments. It was resolved that the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) would evaluate and implement these findings within six months to assess BUBT’s preparedness for accreditation by the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC).
- Formation of Quality Assurance Committees: Each faculty will establish a Faculty Quality Assurance Committee (FQAC), and each department will form a Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC). IQAC will initiate the formation process and propose committee structures for approval by the Vice Chancellor.
- Commencement of Accreditation Process: A roadmap was approved to begin accreditation in alignment with BAC standards. Departments will revisit and scrutinize previous Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) to identify Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT). This phase will be overseen by the Additional Director of IQAC, Mr. Zaved Mannan.
- Training Initiatives: IQAC will organize:
- Training sessions for faculty members (especially those appointed within the last two semesters) on QA, teaching, and assessment practices.
- Professional development workshops for non-academic staff to bolster institutional support for QA processes.

- Additional Actions:
- Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Advisor to BUBT, was nominated as a senior academic member of QAC. A second member will be appointed from the Bangladesh University of Professionals.
- Urgent updates to the IQAC and departmental websites were mandated to reflect current activities and improve visibility for university rankings and stakeholder engagement.

In addition to the Chair, the meeting was attended by several senior officials and committee members who are instrumental in BUBT’s quality assurance efforts. Present were Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Advisor, BUBT; Prof. Dr. Md. Ali Noor, Pro-Vice Chancellor; and Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director of IQAC-BUBT. The Deans from various faculties also attended, including Prof. Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities; Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean of the Faculty of Business; Prof. Dr. Syed Sarfaraj Hamid, Dean of the Faculty of Law; and Prof. Dr. Ali Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Key administrative representatives, such as Dr. Md. Harun-or-Rashid, Registrar, Mr. Zaved Mannan, Additional Director, IQAC-BUBT, and Mr. Md. Saiful Islam, Joint Director of Accounts, were also present, ensuring a comprehensive and collaborative discussion toward advancing institutional quality standards.
This milestone event highlights BUBT’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, transparency, and national quality standards. The institution is on a firm path toward achieving full accreditation and elevating its academic standing nationally and internationally.
