Discussion on Accreditation Process, Responsibilities of PSAC, Curriculum and File Indexing Template at BUBT

A comprehensive meeting was held at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) to discuss the ongoing accreditation process and the essential roles and responsibilities of the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) within each department.

The meeting, held on Thursday, October 5th 2023,  at 3 pm, took place at the University’s meeting room, with the honorable presence of Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director of IQAC, and Zaved Mannan, Additional Director of IQAC. Notably, esteemed heads and members of the PSAC from various departments, as well as Documentation Assistants, participated in the gathering.

The session commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, who encouraged open dialogue and knowledge sharing. Each PSAC presented updates on their respective activities related to the accreditation process.

Zaved Mannan, Additional Director of IQAC, then took the floor to discuss the crucial responsibilities of the PSAC within their departments. The participants engaged in a constructive conversation about the nine criteria of Standard 4 for academic programs. Standard 4 focuses on program curriculum, emphasizing the importance of an outcome-based approach consistent with the qualification framework (QF) of Bangladesh for higher education.

Mr. Zaved Mannan highlighted that the curriculum must be comprehensive enough to guide faculty and students towards systematic attainment of learning outcomes while aligning with the mission and objectives of the Program Offering Entity (POE). He elaborated on each of the nine criteria in detail, providing insightful examples to facilitate understanding. Mr. Zaved Mannan urged all PSAC members to adhere to a well-defined procedure for the documentation of Standard 4.

In addition to these discussions, all heads and members of the PSAC were actively engaged in a comprehensive exploration of a ‘File Indexing Template.’ Mr. Zaved Mannan introduced the template, providing practical examples to assist the PSAC in expediting the documentation process.

The importance of following this file indexing template for documentation was underscored, as it plays a pivotal role in ensuring a streamlined and comprehensive accreditation process.

Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh extended his gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and dedication to the accreditation process.

This meeting marked a significant step in BUBT’s journey towards achieving accreditation and fostering excellence in higher education.
