
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) successfully organized an academic session titled “Outcome-Based Education at the Tertiary Level: Aligning Teaching, Learning and Assessment with Measurable Outcomes.”
The program was graced by the Honourable Vice Chancellor of BUBT, Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the crucial role of Outcome-Based Education in modern higher education. He highlighted the importance of producing industry-ready graduates, stating that universities must ensure students acquire practical skills, critical thinking abilities and professional competencies alongside academic knowledge. He noted that aligning curriculum, teaching methods and assessment with real-world requirements is essential to meet the challenges of today’s competitive job market.
The session was further enriched by the presence of Professor Santi Narayan Ghosh, Professor of Finance, BUBT and Professor Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business Economics, BUBT, as Special Guests. They shared valuable insights on enhancing educational quality through effective implementation of outcome-based approaches.
The event was chaired by the newly appointed Director of IQAC, Professor Dr. K Ahmed Alam, whose thoughtful leadership and smooth coordination ensured the successful and disciplined conduct of the program.
The Keynote Presentation was delivered by Professor Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali from the Department of Economics, BUBT. In his presentation, he discussed the fundamental concepts of Outcome-Based Education, focusing on how teaching strategies, learning activities and assessment methods can be systematically aligned with measurable learning outcomes. He elaborated on the question of how OBE can be effectively implemented to ensure students competencies, skills development and continuous academic improvement, supported by practical examples and structured academic frameworks.
