The Tenth Meeting of the QS Ranking Committee Held at BUBT

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) continued its strategic efforts toward strengthening global academic visibility through the 10th meeting of the QS Ranking Committee, held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Room No. 619, Shahid Sujan Mahmud Building (Building-2).

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Mansur, Professor and Chairman, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), and Convenor of the QS Ranking Committee. Other members present included Prof. Dr. K. Ahmed Alam, Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), BUBT; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Professor, Department of Economics; Dr. Mohammad Raihanul Hasan, Associate Professor of Marketing; Dr. Md. Aslam Uddin, Associate Professor of Marketing; Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering; and Dr. Md. Asadur Rahman, Additional Director, IQAC-BUBT, who served as Member-Secretary.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Mansur presented a comprehensive briefing on the QS World University Rankings framework, outlining its methodology, data processing and validation mechanisms, and the strategic importance of QS participation in enhancing BUBT’s global image, academic reputation, and international visibility. He informed the Committee that the QS Ranking Committee had recently been reconstituted to ensure more effective coordination and operational efficiency.

Key discussions focused on institutional data submission procedures, strict adherence to QS deadlines, and the requirement for accurate, consistent, and verified data. The Committee was informed that survey contact data must be submitted by January 31, 2026, while all remaining QS-related institutional data are to be submitted by February 12, 2026. Emphasis was placed on the use of official institutional email addresses and complete, updated profiles of nominated local and international academicians and employers.

The session also highlighted the importance of collective cooperation from all faculties and departments. The Committee discussed the use of standardized data formats, the formation of sub-committees to streamline data collection and verification, and the intelligent validation mechanisms employed by QS to ensure the credibility of survey responses. It was noted that institutional data from the year 2025 will be used for the upcoming QS ranking cycle.

As part of key outcomes, the Committee agreed to seek expert guidance for processing academic and employer survey data and proposed the establishment of a dedicated platform titled the “International Office of BUBT” to strengthen structured engagement with international faculty members and employers in support of QS Ranking activities.

The QS Ranking Committee reaffirmed its commitment to coordinated, timely, and data-driven efforts to enhance BUBT’s standing in global university rankings.
