Dhaka, February 06, 2024: Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) hosted a dynamic workshop titled “Strategic Planning Workshop: Navigating the Future of Academic Excellence at BUBT” on February 5, 2024. The workshop, held at the Meeting Room, 220, Building 2, aimed to provide valuable insights and strategies for the university’s leadership, including deans, chairmen, PSAC heads and administrative officers, to formulate comprehensive strategic plans for the university.
Participants in the workshop included: Prof. Dr. Md. Fayyaz Khan, Vice Chancellor, BUBT; Prof. Dr. Md. Ali Noor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, BUBT; Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Advisor of BUBT; Prof. Dr. Md. Ali Ahmed, Treasurer of BUBT; Prof. A. B. Md. Badruddoza Mia, Controller of Examinations of BUBT; Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh. Director, IQAC-BUBT & BRIC; Zaved Mannan, Additional Director, IQAC-BUBT; Deans of all Faculties; Chairman of all departments and Administrative Staff of BUBT.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at BUBT. Prof. Ghosh highlighted that the idea of strategic planning started in the USSR in 1946. He emphasized the evolution of strategic planning across various sectors and its recent integration into the educational landscape, underlining its importance in achieving academic excellence.
Following Prof. Ghosh’s welcome address, Dr. Harun-Or-Rashid, Registrar of BUBT, facilitated the workshop. Dr. Rashid provided a historical overview of strategic planning, contextualizing its development in Bangladesh, particularly after 1985. He elucidated the distinction between development plans and strategic plans, citing the latter’s necessity for accreditation by the Bangladesh Accreditation Council. Dr. Rashid’s comprehensive presentation elucidated the intricacies of strategic planning, fostering meaningful engagement and interaction with the participants.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Md. Fayyaz Khan, Vice Chancellor of BUBT. Prof. Dr. Md. Fayyaz Khan reiterated the importance of aligning strategic plans with the institution’s mission and vision, emphasizing the collective effort required to ensure effective implementation. He expressed gratitude to IQAC for organizing the workshop and extended appreciation to Dr. Harun-Or-Rashid for his insightful presentation. Prof. Dr. Md. Fayyaz Khan affirmed BUBT’s commitment to leveraging strategic planning to propel the institution towards becoming a premier educational hub in Bangladesh.
The workshop, anchored by Mr. Zaved Mannan, Additional Director of IQAC-BUBT, provided a platform for robust discussions and knowledge-sharing, fostering a collective vision for academic excellence at BUBT.
